The Cisco Kid is an American 1994 TV movie, which updated the successful 1950s comedy western television series, and 1940s movie serial. The film was written by Michael Kane and directed by Luis Valdez. Jimmy Smits played the Cisco Kid, the role previously played by Duncan Renaldo, Gilbert Roland, and Cesar Romero. Cheech Marin played his sidekick Pancho. Bruce Payne and Ron Perlman played French villains. The film aired on the TNT Network.
Plot
The Cisco Kid and his sidekick Pancho were used to riding around Mexico and dealing with injustice. In this film they inspire Mexican peasants to oust settlers from the Second French Empire.
Review
Just before its initial airing, Todd Everett of Variety wrote: "The Cisco Kid proves an ideal role for Jimmy Smits, and Cheech Marin has never been more appealing than he is as comic foil Pancho. Film is also Luis Valdez’s most across-the-board project yet, with even wider potential appeal than La Bamba."
The movie has a score of 6.1 out of ten on the IMDB website.
